Your brand would break down into the following 'brand code':
- Product benefit
What is your product or products benefit to the customer? - Positioning
Why is your company better than or different to that of your competitors? - Styling
What characterises the visual style of your company? - Mission
What is the company's role in society, or the public benefit of the company? (If we didn't do it for the money) - Vision
The company can define its future: in what market do we want to be? - Values
What makes the company trustworthy as a friend?
What Are The Benefits of Building Your Brand?
Your brand gives you direction. Every time you produce-marketing literature, advertising, or even hire a new employee it helps you to make decisions quickly and easily. Does the literature, advertising or prospective employee fit in with your brand and give your company a stronger identity?
For instance you are producing a magazine advertisement but you're unsure if it covers everything you need to say. If you are in doubt, check to make sure that it fits within your brand code:
- Has it conveyed your product benefit or benefits?
- Will it position you to offer something different to or better than your competitors?
- Is the visual styling depicting your company correctly?
- Has it conveyed your values and mission so that you connect with your customer quickly on a one to one level?
All these questions can be answered quickly and easily if you have a strong brand identity. Your customers will know who you are, what you have to offer and why they should trust and use your services.
