This is the conventional method of printing on to high quality paper stocks for everything from individual product sheets through to multi page brochures, this process allows you to print using not only the full colour range but also using Pantones spot colour system to allow you to match your brand colours as closely as possible every time you go to print.
Although lithographic printing can be more expensive than printing digitally if you’re having a large print run the cost per printed item can work out remarkably cheap. It’s always worth careful planning when sending a job to print as you can save money by printing a few similar items concurrently. For instance if you have a group of products and product sheets for each product you should get them all printed together rather than individually, this saves on set up costs, film costs and you would only pay for the time it takes to run the job through the press once. This is also worth thinking about when you are printing business cards and stationery.
What are Pantone colours? Pantone colours are pre-mixed colours that, rather than being made up of a mixture of cyan, magenta, yellow and black as with the conventional print process, are a single solid colour, more like paint. These produce strong vivid solid colours that are perfect for keeping the colour consistency of design work such as logos between print jobs and are excellent for stationery and business cards.
Printing digitally has proven itself as a fast efficient and very cost effective way to print a variety of products, especially useful where only a small run of an item is needed, such as business cards, leaflets or flyers. If you’re looking for a cheep way to turn around a print job is a minimal time frame this is the perfect process.
Currently there are restrictions on the weight of paper stock that can be printed on the digital press, if you’re looking to print on heavy high quality paper stocks, and using pantone colours you may have to use the lithographic print service. If you contact us with your print requirements we can suggest the best print process for your job.
Screen printing is used to print onto special items such as plastic folders and stickers etc. Special consideration has to be made when designing these items as design work for screen printing is best produced out of just a few individual colours as printing items using multiple colours is expensive. It is also advisable not to create artwork that is too complex using thin lines, delicate fonts or intricate illustrations as this will not come out well using the process.
Cyan Shiner has years of experience in preparing artwork for print and the problems and pitfalls associated with the different printing processes. If you already have artwork that needs to be printed but are unsure of its suitability we can help you to make sure that it is ready to go to print. If you are looking to have a product designed for print please contact us and we will be happy to help you to put it together.
